Printing UID Data Matrix Barcodes

The UID Printing program (UID ePrint) is a simple data collect, verify, and print program which collects the UID part number, cage code and serial number to print a unique DataMatrix barcode UID label for that item. To make the effort easier, UID ePrint can use your own lookup data table of part numbers or models, cage codes, descriptions, etc. to ensure that only correct data is collected and printed into a UID DataMatrix barcode label. This collected UID information is stored in the ePrint database so that it can be used to update data and information in any host program. It works with Intermec barcode printers and ensures a good quality datamatrix barcode label that will last and last.

UID Printing is Easy

When you start the UID ePrint application, you start entering the part number or model and the data table is searched as you type each letter of that part number to pull up all matches. Then you simply select the correct part number and the cage code is filled in automatically. Next, you simply enter the serial number and print. All the data (part number, cage, and serial number) is automatically stored in the UID Print program for later upload and a UID data matrix label is printed.

UID ePrint is Flexible

The UID ePrint program was originally developed for the Navy (Navsea) but has great use for other branches of government and industry as well. It was designed to be flexible and capable of enhancements as per the user specifications. Please follow this link for a 6 minute demonstration of UID Printing...

UID DataMatrix Barcode Printing

DoD, UID and DataMatrix Printing

The UID program was designed by the Department of Defense (DoD) to enhance asset visibility. UID not only enhances total asset visibility but also improves lifecycle item management and accountability. UID uses the 2D DataMatrix barcode symbology on the parts marking program to ensure data integrity and data quality throughout its life.

The UID initiative requires a permanent machine-readable barcode, called the Data Matrix code, to be placed onto the item or part that meets certain selection criteria. Generally, the criteria for these items (end item, subassembly, or part) are:
• Overall $5,000 in acquisition cost
• Serially managed
• Mission essential
• Controlled item (i.e., classified items or munitions)
• Other items the Program Manager designates

The labels and what is on the label must comply with DoD Unique Product Identification requirements, known as MIL-STD-130L. Our labels comply with Mil-Std-130, the Department of Defense Standard Practice for Identification and Marking of U.S. Military Property UID labels and plates. They are also compliant with other standards such as ISO/IEC 15418, 16022, 15434, and ISO 9001.
