Barcode Inspections

MSS Software's Inspector Kit allows you to perform inspections and track the condition of equipment and other assets in multiple locations.  The barcode reader collects the location, equipment barcode id, and condition as well as the date and time of the inspection.  The complete kit consists of simple-to-use software, a portable barcode reader and accessories.  There are several models of barcode readers available depending on the environment and ruggedness needed.  Inspector is commonly used in inspections of:

How to use Inspector
Step 1--Label Equipment and Locations
Label equipment to be inspected and the locations with barcodes.  If you do not have barcodes on the equipment, you may purchase them from MSS Software or purchase a printer that will allow you to print barcodes.  The kit comes with label printing software.

Step 2--Scan and Inspect
Scan the location of the equipment you are about to inspect.  Then scan each piece of equipment in that location and enter the condition of that equipment.  For example, enter "Good", "Needs Repair", or "Replace".  Note:  these condition codes can be scanned in as well.

Step 3--Transfer the New Data to your Computer
After the inspector has completed the equipment inspections at one or more locations, simply download the data from the barcode reader to your computer using the USB cable provided.

Step 4--Immediately Get your Results
Now Inspector goes to work.  Just click "Compare" and you will immediately get an updated Master Table of your equipment and updated inspection results.

Master Spreadsheet of Equipment


The inspector enters the locations and then scans the barcode on the equipment with the barcode reader. When finished, data is transferred to the PC from the barcode reader.  (Sample data of what could be collected on the reader)
